Common Substrates for Dimensional Signs

Foam

Foam material can be durable for indoor and outdoor signage. Foam can be colored by painting and adding vinyl on the smooth surface. Foam can be cut in custom shapes using CNC Router Tables, Scroll Saw or Hot Metal Wire. The followings are commonly used in sign industry:
  • Styro Foam
  • Gator Foam
  • Ultraboard
Plastic

Plastic material can also be durable for indoor and outdoor signage. It can be colored by painting and adding vinyl on the smooth surface. Foam can be cut in custom shapes using CNC Router Tables, Scroll Saw, or Jig Saw. Make sure you choose the right substrates; unexpected things (e.g. Heat and UV from sunlight) can affect the shape and color of substrates.
